Congratulations to Unistress for winning a PCI Design Award in the Parking Structures: 1000+ cars category or the Ruppert Plaza Garage and Macombs Dam Rooftop Park in Bronx, New York.
The inherent strength of precast concrete enabled the rooftop park to become a reality. Unistress delivered 1,352 precast pieces to build the
nearly 1 million square feet, 3 level, 1,700 parking space garage, creating an amazing 7 acres of rooftop that was turned into the Macombs Dam Park.
Unistress’s award will be presented at the PCI Convention in Nashville September 29-October 2.

PCI to Present Webinar on Achieving Aesthetic Goals with Inlaid Clay Products and Stone Veneers
Jim Lewis, RA, LEED AP, Architectural Director, Gate Precast Company, will present "Achieving Aesthetic Goals with Inlaid Clay Products and Stone Veneers" on August 30, 2012 from 12:00 p.m.(Noon) EST.
Today more projects such as schools, hospitals, and higher-education facilities, are utilizing precast concrete to meet their program goals. An in-depth explanation of thin-brick, clay products will be presented in this session.
Often, aesthetic goals require the use of natural materials embedded in precast concrete. This approach provides the beauty and authenticity of these natural materials, while taking advantage of precast concrete’s speed, durability
and design versatility.
This presentation will provide an overview of materials, and discuss today’s innovations and best practices including appropriate applications, and attachment methodologies. Project case studies will be used to highlight the material being presented.
3rd Annual NECMA Education Day & Tradeshow

Updated Fire Publication Now Available on PCI's e-Publication Site
PCI/ICC's Design for Fire Resistance of Precast Prestressed Concrete, Third Edition (MNL 124-11) is available as an electronic publication at www.pci.org/epubs.
This manual has been used by designers for almost 30 years, and much of it has been reproduced or referenced in
the model building codes and the International Building Code. Since the second printing in 1989, much has been experienced and learned, resulting in the need for updating the manual to its current status. Several parts have been rewritten to clarify the text and some new
material has been added, but nothing has been changed that would affect the character of the manual.
This manual is the first PCI publication to be cobranded with the International Code Council (ICC). In addition, it has been issued an evaluation report (ESR-1997) through the ICC Evaluation Service.

PCI e-publications can be purchased at www.pci.org/epubs.
