Holyoke Parking Garage

The three-story, 453 parking garage was built to service downtown Holyoke. The owner was concerned that a new garage blend naturally into a traditional setting, but using the natural stone and brick in the area would prove to be costly. The sophistication of architectural precast concrete provided the perfect solution to what could have been a costly and complicated problem.

As precast concrete is well known for its adjustable elements, panels were created inset with a masonry facade that reflects the brick used in so many of the older surrounding buildings. Also cast into the concrete were arches, gables, reveals and other architectural elements reminiscent of neoclassicism. Even the stair tiles appear to have red tile roofs.

Despite the lavish architectural details, however, the use of precast concrete ensured fast-track construction - the project was completed in just ten months - enhancing an already stately downtown Holyoke.
