Hancock International Airport Tower
In Syracuse, New York, the Hancock International Airport tower was constructed of post-tensioned, precast concrete modules. The use of the same size module contributed significantly to the cost-effectiveness of the precast solution. The Federal Aviation Administration air traffic control tower stands 120ft high and utilized 60 modules in its construction. The modules were 12ft 6-in. deep x 10 ft wide x 7ft 5-in. high with a curved surface on one face. The units weighed approximately 24 tons each. These precast panels were also utilized in the construction of the adjacent TRACON buildings.
