Hampden County Women Correctional Facility

This three-story women’s correctional facility houses 300 female inmates, with the ability to double in size if need be. Precast concrete components were selected to maximize durability and security. The new 96,000 square foot facility includes areas for housing, administration, clinical, educational, food service, shop and laundry. The project features precast concrete wall panels and a hollowcore flooring system.

The Hampden County Correctional Center has a deserved reputation for its innovation in facility and community programs. It is considered a model institution of safe, secure, orderly, lawful, humane and productive where inmates are challenged to build a law abiding life free from violence.

Oldcastle Building Systems manufactured 17,693 square feet of exterior precast wall panels and 23,945 square feet of 8-inch thick hollowcore slabs.

After more than ten years of mixed-sex incarceration, officials in Hampden County say the new all-female jail in Chicopee offers female prisoners a facility of their own and a chance to have a more stable environment.
